As we turn the page to a new academic year, it is with great excitement that I welcome you back to St. Rose High School. This year holds the promise of fresh beginnings, continued growth, and the opportunity to further our shared journey of faith and education.
Looking back on the past year, we have much to celebrate. Our Centennial Anniversary was more than just a milestone; it was a testament to the enduring legacy of St. Rose High School. We honored a century of academic excellence, spiritual formation, and community building. The success of our Centennial—highlighted by raising over $1.1 million—was a collective achievement made possible by the unwavering support of our families, alumni, students, and dedicated staff. I extend my deepest gratitude to all who contributed to this historic celebration.
The Class of 2024 left an indelible mark on SRHS, earning nearly $23 million in scholarships. Our students continue to thrive in our small-school environment, where they are known, valued, and challenged, with countless opportunities to excel. A St. Rose graduate stands out in the college admission process, with a resume that reflects countless leadership roles, service experiences, and unique opportunities—advantages they might not have found in a larger school environment I encourage all students to immerse themselves in the diverse array of extracurricular activities and service opportunities, that define the St. Rose experience. These experiences are integral to our mission, cultivating leaders who are not only academically prepared but also spiritually grounded and committed to serving others.
As we embark on this new chapter in the history of St. Rose High School, our focus remains unwavering on our mission: fostering a “spirit of unity with God and others while preparing our students to be disciples of Christ and leaders of tomorrow.” In keeping with the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, which emphasizes serving all who are in need, our students will have expanded opportunities for service within the broader community. Our updated grading policies reflect our commitment to supporting our students' needs while also raising expectations for increased rigor and achievement.
To our parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting us with your sons' and daughters' education. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we will ensure this year is one of growth, achievement, and fulfillment for every student
As we embark on this new school year, I ask for God’s blessing on our school community. May we all be inspired by the spirit of community and service that has defined St. Rose for the past century, and may we carry it forward into the future.
Welcome back, and here’s to a wonderful school year ahead!
This work is specifically available for English, Math, and AP Courses across all subjects.
To access the summer work, please visit our school website at http://www.srhsnj.com/summerwork. There, you will find the links to the English (required) and Math (optional) summer assignments, which are conveniently located for easy access and download.
For all AP students, your instructors have already sent out invitations to join a special summer Google Classroom dedicated to your AP course. This classroom will serve as a platform for communication between students and their AP instructors throughout the summer, as well as for uploading completed assignments. In the event that any AP student has not received an invitation from their instructor, please reach out to your guidance counselor, who will be more than happy to assist you further.
Non-AP students are required to complete all their English and Math summer work by the first day of school. It is essential that you download the materials from our website and organize your schedule to work on these assignments in manageable chunks throughout the summer. We highly discourage waiting until the last day of summer before beginning the work, as it may lead to unnecessary stress and compromised quality.
If you have any questions or need additional support regarding the summer work or the AP Google Classroom, please do not hesitate to reach out to your respective instructors or contact the school's guidance counselors. We are here to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the upcoming academic year. During the summer, our school office operates with modified hours. Our summer hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your commitment to maintaining a proactive approach to your summer work. Enjoy your summer.

The staff consists of fully certified school counselors who hold Master's degrees in their field and who regularly attend professional conferences and workshops to enhance their skills and continue their education.
Our guidance program is personalized and reliant on individual counseling to provide the right kind and amount of guidance for each student freshmen year until they go off to college.
Searching for the right college school can be overwhelming, don’t worry we’ve got your back. Our dedicated, compassionate guidance counselors will work with you and your child one-on-one, supporting, educating and giving you the tools you need to find the school of your dreams.
At St. Rose High School, we are focused on helping our students and families find the college that's the best fit for them.
We believe and practice the idea that students should find the college that fits them best and will give them the best experience and the best chance to be successful in college.
Though we do send plenty of students every year to the nation’s most selective universities, there is no pressure to produce an impressive list of colleges simply for its own sake. We are free to counsel students about the choice that best fits their needs and those of their families
We have a student-driven process where students lead their own college searches with parents and counselors in a supporting role.
It is an extension of school culture and intentional effort on our part to require students to take the lead in this process. We structure our program this way both because it is most likely to lead to the best possible outcome, and also because there are so many valuable lessons- --writing a formal email, talking to another adult on the phone, etc---students can learn through the process, if parents and counselors let them.
Our college guidance program is personalized and reliant on individual counseling to provide the right kind and amount of guidance for each student.
We have a well-designed college guidance curriculum, but we don’t over-program our students so we are available to accommodate their individual needs and timelines.
Our college guidance program serves a wide range of aspirations and wide range of financial needs.
Every year we help students be admitted to the most selective colleges in the country and universities all across the country. We have the experience and knowledge to help with the most daunting or the most obscure searches. At the same time, we serve well the many families that want their students to be admitted to local and regional public universities with great academic preparation and as much financial aid as possible.
Because of school culture and this broad range of aspirations, the college application process at St. Rose is not stressful and not competitive among our students.
Occasionally, as most people do, students get stressed when they procrastinate, but generally there is not the frenzy that exists at many other schools. In fact, sometimes we wish they were a little more stressed---so they would get some things done! I think, in part, because they are applying to so many different kinds of colleges, students are extremely supportive of each other’s admissions successes. They celebrate each other’s positive results, and there’s no sense of sour grapes. It’s quite heart-warming.
St. Rose High School parents are overwhelmingly positive influences throughout the process.
They generally do a great job of letting their high schoolers run their own searches. We have amazingly few negative interactions with parents in what is generally perceived to be a stressful experience for both parents and their children.
Most of all, we want to empower and educate our students in their college search. It's their future. We're just helping them get there. Good news: Our grads tend to go places.
Let’s review the tech requirements for St. Rose’s BYOD program:
Every student will be required to have a device designated for learning each day.
You can choose any laptop that runs on Windows, MAC or Chrome. That includes PC laptops, Macbooks and Chromebooks. Ideally, the screen should be 13” or larger but the smallest acceptable size is 11 inches.
No software is required. We will be using all web based products including Google Apps for Education. The device must be able to run the Google Chrome web browser.
Smartphones or tablets will not be recognized as acceptable educational devices for the BYOD program.
And most importantly, students are responsible for coming to school with fully charged devices. The battery life of devices should last the duration of the day.
Watch the video above or click here for the list of full requirements.

Medication to be given on a regular or “as needed basis” requires a written authorization from your child’s health care provider every school year. This includes Epi-pens, insulin and inhalers, as well as oral medications. Have your child’s health care provider complete the Permission to Medicate and/or Permission to Self-Medicate
