At St. Rose High School, we are focused on helping our students and families find the college that's the best fit for them.
We believe and practice the idea that students should find the college that fits them best and will give them the best experience and the best chance to be successful in college.
Though we do send plenty of students every year to the nation’s most selective universities, there is no pressure to produce an impressive list of colleges simply for its own sake. We are free to counsel students about the choice that best fits their needs and those of their families
We have a student-driven process where students lead their own college searches with parents and counselors in a supporting role.
It is an extension of school culture and intentional effort on our part to require students to take the lead in this process. We structure our program this way both because it is most likely to lead to the best possible outcome, and also because there are so many valuable lessons- --writing a formal email, talking to another adult on the phone, etc---students can learn through the process, if parents and counselors let them.
Our college guidance program is personalized and reliant on individual counseling to provide the right kind and amount of guidance for each student.
We have a well-designed college guidance curriculum, but we don’t over-program our students so we are available to accommodate their individual needs and timelines.
Our college guidance program serves a wide range of aspirations and wide range of financial needs.
Every year we help students be admitted to the most selective colleges in the country and universities all across the country. We have the experience and knowledge to help with the most daunting or the most obscure searches. At the same time, we serve well the many families that want their students to be admitted to local and regional public universities with great academic preparation and as much financial aid as possible.
Because of school culture and this broad range of aspirations, the college application process at St. Rose is not stressful and not competitive among our students.
Occasionally, as most people do, students get stressed when they procrastinate, but generally there is not the frenzy that exists at many other schools. In fact, sometimes we wish they were a little more stressed---so they would get some things done! I think, in part, because they are applying to so many different kinds of colleges, students are extremely supportive of each other’s admissions successes. They celebrate each other’s positive results, and there’s no sense of sour grapes. It’s quite heart-warming.
St. Rose High School parents are overwhelmingly positive influences throughout the process.
They generally do a great job of letting their high schoolers run their own searches. We have amazingly few negative interactions with parents in what is generally perceived to be a stressful experience for both parents and their children.
Most of all, we want to empower and educate our students in their college search. It's their future. We're just helping them get there. Good news: Our grads tend to go places.
Bring your Own Device
Let’s review the tech requirements for St. Rose’s BYOD program:
- Every student will be required to have a device designated for learning each day.
- You can choose any laptop that runs on Windows, MAC or Chrome. That includes PC laptops, Macbooks and Chromebooks. Ideally, the screen should be 13” or larger but the smallest acceptable size is 11 inches.
- No software is required. We will be using all web based products including Google Apps for Education. The device must be able to run the Google Chrome web browser.
- Smartphones or tablets will not be recognized as acceptable educational devices for the BYOD program.
- And most importantly, students are responsible for coming to school with fully charged devices. The battery life of devices should last the duration of the day.
- Watch the video above or click here for the list of full requirements.
What's Next?
- Review the requirements, agreement, and Frequently Asked Questions
- Choose a device from home or go shopping
- Extenuating circumstances? Let's talk.

INTRODUCTION
Students will dress in accordance with the St. Rose High School dress code, designed for the student’s comfort and safety. Repeated and/or flagrant dress code violations will result in disciplinary consequences specified in this handbook under “Violations.”
The Administration reserves the right to determine appropriateness in matters dealing with hairstyles, jewelry, uniforms, casual dress days, etc. Displays of midriffs, pierced body parts beyond single earlobe piercings, and tattoos are considered distracting and not appropriate in this school's environment. SRHS will not allow any distraction from the academic or spiritual environment of our community.
Only uniforms purchased from the SRHS Flynn O'Hara website may be worn unless otherwise stipulated by the school administration. "In uniform" does not simply mean having the correct items on one's person. The uniform must be worn modestly and properly at all times. Please make all purchases here.
GYM UNIFORMS
Students must wear SRHS gym uniforms during their Phys. Ed. classes.
HAIRSTYLES AND FACIAL HAIR
Gentlemen must maintain their hair style in their natural color. The hairstyle may not include a shaved portion, hide the student’s eyes, exceed their collar length, or be extreme in style as determined by the school administration. If worn, sideburns may not exceed the ear lobe in length. Gentlemen must shave each day and may not have facial hair.
Ladies must maintain their hair in a single, natural color in an orderly condition with no portion shaved, hiding their eyes, or extreme in style as determined by the school administration.
JEWELRY AND ACCESSORIES
Jewelry and accessories for both male and female students should be simple, modest, and appropriate for school. Jewelry and accessories must be limited and not distracting. If earrings are worn, only one earring may be worn per ear.

Dal Pra was also an assistant football coach when Ocean won the Central Jersey Group 3 crown in 2000 and 2005 and was named baseball coach of the year in 2006 by the Asbury Park Press. While teaching and coaching at Ocean Coach Del earned his Masters degree from Kean University with a degree in School Administration. In 2008, Dal Pra was then hired as Red Bank's athletic director and tasked with resuscitating a struggling athletic department. That fall season, the football team was 0-10 and the boys and girls soccer, girls tennis and field hockey teams combined for just nine wins. "Those times were horrible for me," he said. "We had teams playing on fields and courts that had no upgrades in almost 40 years. Outdated uniforms and equipment had to be replaced with one of the smallest budgets in the Shore Conference. I knew I had to think outside the box because it was not safe for our student-athletes and they deserved better."
With the help of some very dedicated parents, Dal Pra founded the Buc Backer Booster Club in 2009. He fostered the buy-in from the entire coaching staff and they helped him build a winning culture in Little Silver that was missing for a long time. From 2010-2020 he was also able to start and finish such projects as lights for the stadium field, new home and away stands, a new wood gym floor, new gym lights, new gym bleachers and new scoreboards in the fieldhouse. His most proud moment was the opening of a new state of the art weight room. Coach Del was named Athletic Director of the year in 2016 and 2020 and retired from RBR in July 2020. Before retiring all of the RBR teams were running successful programs and playing on top notch facilities.
In 2021 the NJSIAA enshrined Coach Del in the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame in Robbinsville. Last school year 2021-2022 Dal Pra worked at Matawan High School in the Security Department. Currently he works for the Philadelphia Phillies as an assistant groundskeeper for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. “I love working for the BlueClaws and enjoy every minute I am at the ballpark,” Dal Pra said. “However, I am even more excited to get back to working as a high school Athletic Director, especially at St. Rose. I’ve had a lot of great offers this past summer but when the opportunity to work at a school that appreciates its coaches and athletes like St. Rose does came along- I jumped at the chance."
"St. Rose's win of the Shop-Rite Cup in 2021-2022 for Private Group 1 schools demonstrates its commitment to athletics with programs and coaches on the top of their game. I am excited to work with the coaches and athletes to take the program to the next level."
