What I Do

I close my eyes and I can hear sounds around me

The light breeze rustling the leaves

Church bells ringing

Muffled voices from far off

And the laughter close by

I close my eyes and I feel the presence of fresh air

The prickly grass tickling my body

And the old leaves crunching in my hands

The unusual warmth of the sun on a fall day

I close my eyes and There’s an overload of scents

The aroma of my own perfume

And the sweet smell of fall grass

I finally open my eyes to the scenes around me

The brown leaves

The brick buildings so familiar

Blue skies and green trees

And people who are important to me
