Re-Opening Plan - Follow Up

Re-Opening Plan - Follow Up

Good Evening Students and Parents,

I hope that many of you have had the opportunity to review our plan for the opening of school in September.  I also want to thank the parents who have expressed their thoughts and concerns.  I know that it is early and the plan was just released yesterday, but I would like to clarify a few points.

Students and staff are required to wear face coverings when moving throughout the school building and in all common areas.  The only exception would be if the wearing of a face covering would inhibit an individual's health.  Students will only be allowed to remove their face coverings while seated and eating in the cafeteria and in classrooms where social distancing is possible.  Students must wear their face coverings in classrooms where social distancing is not possible.

Also, locker rooms will be closed during the school day to mitigate risk and prohibit students and staff from confined spaces with limited ventilation and/or areas with large amounts of high-contact surfaces.  Students will change to appropriate and safe footwear that allows for safe movement and is appropriate for the weather in order to participate in physical education without the use of a locker room.  Our physical education teachers will be challenged to provide meaningful, appropriate, and safe lessons while maintaining best practices.

Finally, a survey will be sent to all parents and parents will have the option to choose a 100% Virtual Learning Platform for their child. Parents who will be opting for the Virtual Learning Platform must inform the school via the survey by August 15, 2020.

God Bless and enjoy your weekend.
