September 2019
Dear SRHS Sophomores,
The Guidance Department is excited to continue to collaborate with you and your family to support you through your high school career.
As you move through the summer traveling with family and friends, working, relaxing, and finding time for prayer and reflection, the Guidance Department would like to take this time to review a few important items you will need to help you prepare for your sophomore year:
- Don't procrastinate!! Keep up on your academic studies!
- Continue to build a solid "High School Academic Foundation". Keep your grades up and continue to be active members of your high school community and parish.
- Explore additional extracurricular opportunities that interest you.
- Seek to improve your writing abilities.
- Begin to prepare a list of colleges you would like to visit and explore. You may also explore colleges through CollegeBoard at www.collegeboard.org.
- Attend a few meetings with college representatives visiting St. Rose. Various college representatives will be present in the cafeteria during lunch and also during other designated times. We will have the times and sign-up sheets posted in guidance.
- Start your free PSAT preparation using your Access Code from your PSAT report. Login through https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/home
- Review your PreACT Student Report to understand how it can help you improve your skills. Go to act.org/preact
- Consider meaningful 2019-2020 experiences to help build your character– employment, service opportunities, club and sports involvement and dedication
- Check in with your Guidance Counselor!!! You can email your counselor for an appointment!!
