Summer Work
Click here for the 2023 Summer Work
This work is specifically available for English, Math, and AP Courses across all subjects.
To access the summer work, please visit our school website at http://www.srhsnj.com/summerwork. There, you will find the links to the English and Math summer assignments, which are conveniently located for easy access and download.
For all AP students, your instructors have already sent out invitations to join a special summer Google Classroom dedicated to your AP course. This classroom will serve as a platform for communication between students and their AP instructors throughout the summer, as well as for uploading completed assignments. In the event that any AP student has not received an invitation from their instructor, please reach out to your guidance counselor, who will be more than happy to assist you further.
Non-AP students are required to complete all their English and Math summer work by the first day of school. It is essential that you download the materials from our website and organize your schedule to work on these assignments in manageable chunks throughout the summer. We highly discourage waiting until the last day of summer before beginning the work, as it may lead to unnecessary stress and compromised quality.
If you have any questions or need additional support regarding the summer work or the AP Google Classroom, please do not hesitate to reach out to your respective instructors or contact the school's guidance counselors. We are here to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the upcoming academic year. During the summer, our school office operates with modified hours. Our summer hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your commitment to maintaining a proactive approach to your summer work. Enjoy your summer.

At St. Rose High School, we are focused on helping our students and families find the college that's the best fit for them.
We believe and practice the idea that students should find the college that fits them best and will give them the best experience and the best chance to be successful in college.
Though we do send plenty of students every year to the nation’s most selective universities, there is no pressure to produce an impressive list of colleges simply for its own sake. We are free to counsel students about the choice that best fits their needs and those of their families
We have a student-driven process where students lead their own college searches with parents and counselors in a supporting role.
It is an extension of school culture and intentional effort on our part to require students to take the lead in this process. We structure our program this way both because it is most likely to lead to the best possible outcome, and also because there are so many valuable lessons- --writing a formal email, talking to another adult on the phone, etc---students can learn through the process, if parents and counselors let them.
Our college guidance program is personalized and reliant on individual counseling to provide the right kind and amount of guidance for each student.
We have a well-designed college guidance curriculum, but we don’t over-program our students so we are available to accommodate their individual needs and timelines.
Our college guidance program serves a wide range of aspirations and wide range of financial needs.
Every year we help students be admitted to the most selective colleges in the country and universities all across the country. We have the experience and knowledge to help with the most daunting or the most obscure searches. At the same time, we serve well the many families that want their students to be admitted to local and regional public universities with great academic preparation and as much financial aid as possible.
Because of school culture and this broad range of aspirations, the college application process at St. Rose is not stressful and not competitive among our students.
Occasionally, as most people do, students get stressed when they procrastinate, but generally there is not the frenzy that exists at many other schools. In fact, sometimes we wish they were a little more stressed---so they would get some things done! I think, in part, because they are applying to so many different kinds of colleges, students are extremely supportive of each other’s admissions successes. They celebrate each other’s positive results, and there’s no sense of sour grapes. It’s quite heart-warming.
St. Rose High School parents are overwhelmingly positive influences throughout the process.
They generally do a great job of letting their high schoolers run their own searches. We have amazingly few negative interactions with parents in what is generally perceived to be a stressful experience for both parents and their children.
Most of all, we want to empower and educate our students in their college search. It's their future. We're just helping them get there. Good news: Our grads tend to go places.
Bring your Own Device
Let’s review the tech requirements for St. Rose’s BYOD program:
- Every student will be required to have a device designated for learning each day.
- You can choose any laptop that runs on Windows, MAC or Chrome. That includes PC laptops, Macbooks and Chromebooks. Ideally, the screen should be 13” or larger but the smallest acceptable size is 11 inches.
- No software is required. We will be using all web based products including Google Apps for Education. The device must be able to run the Google Chrome web browser.
- Smartphones or tablets will not be recognized as acceptable educational devices for the BYOD program.
- And most importantly, students are responsible for coming to school with fully charged devices. The battery life of devices should last the duration of the day.
- Watch the video above or click here for the list of full requirements.

- Review the requirements, agreement, and Frequently Asked Questions

INTRODUCTION
Students will dress in accordance with the St. Rose High School dress code, designed for the student’s comfort and safety. Repeated and/or flagrant dress code violations will result in disciplinary consequences specified in this handbook under “Violations.”
The Administration reserves the right to determine appropriateness in matters dealing with hairstyles, jewelry, uniforms, casual dress days, etc. Displays of midriffs, pierced body parts beyond single earlobe piercings, and tattoos are considered distracting and not appropriate in this school's environment. SRHS will not allow any distraction from the academic or spiritual environment of our community.
Only uniforms purchased from the SRHS Flynn O'Hara website may be worn unless otherwise stipulated by the school administration. "In uniform" does not simply mean having the correct items on one's person. The uniform must be worn modestly and properly at all times. Please make all purchases here.
GYM UNIFORMS
Students must wear SRHS gym uniforms during their Phys. Ed. classes.
HAIRSTYLES AND FACIAL HAIR

If worn, sideburns may not exceed the ear lobe in length. Gentlemen must shave each day and may not have facial hair.
Ladies must maintain their hair in a single, natural color in an orderly condition with no portion shaved, hiding their eyes, or extreme in style as determined by the school administration.

Creating a Lunch Account on Payschools
NEW FAMILIES - YOU CANNOT CREATE A LUNCH ACCOUNT UNTIL THEIR SYSTEM IS INSYNC WITH OUR SCHOOL SYSTEMS. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT OPENS.
Our lunch provider, Rivers Edge Cafe uses PaySchools, one of the largest providers of lunch POS systems in the country. You can create a PaySchools account, add your child, add money onto their account, and setup rules on how much they can purchase and if/when your card is used to replenish your balance.
Current families: Login with your account to check your balance and add funds or children.
New families: You will need to create a new account using PaySchools Central.
Any balances from last year will still be in your account and ready to use.
Students must swipe their ID or enter their five digit Student ID # to make purchases in the Cafe. Cash is permitted but strongly discouraged as it slows down the line.
Remind your high schooler NOT to share their ID or give permission for other students to purchase food, snacks, or drinks on their account.
If you have questions about your setting up or funding your account on PaySchools Central, please reach out to the Technology Department at: tech@srhsnj.com.

What days will St. Rose High School be closing early?
St. Rose High School will be closing early on the following dates:
October 6, 2023 | January 31, 2024 |
October 11, 2023 | March 13, 2024 |
October 27, 2023 | March 27, 2024 |

On October 6, 11, and June 4 St. Rose High School will have an early dismissal (12:30pm) with 2:30pm bussing. Therefore, if your child needs to take the bus home on those days they will need to wait 2 hours for the bus home.
All other early dismissal days will feature 12:30pm bussing.
Why doesn't St. Rose High School have 12:30pm bussing every time on an Early Dismissal?
St. Rose High School and St. Rose Grammar School students share the same buses. This helps both our families because the more students coming from a sending district the better the chance the district with provide a bus instead of offering "aid in lieu."
There are times when the high school has an early dismissal and the grammar school has a full day. On those occasions students who wish to take the buses home will need to wait from 12:30pm to 2:28pm to board their bus home.
There are times when both the high school and grammar school have an early dismissal. On those occasions, there will be 12:30pm bussing.
All these dates are clearly outlined on our master school calendar and our key dates calendar.
There are no 12:30pm bussing on the following early dismissal dates:
- October 6
- October 11
- June 4
On October 26th we have a full day of school with NO PM transportation.
When will we receive our bus assignment?
Where is the school supply lists?
St. Rose High School does not have school supply lists for each class. We do have a suggested, "Getting Started" list based on the feedback and experience of our students, parents, and teachers.
Getting Started Suggested Supply List
(all students)

- 1 large pink eraser
- 1 dozen No. 2 pencils, sharpened
- 1 highlighter
- 2 blue or black ballpoint pens
- 1 ruler with inches and metrics
- 1 protractor
- 4 pocket folders
- 1 package of loose leaf college ruled paper
- 4 college rule spiral notebooks
- 1 composition notebook (journal)
- 1 pack of index cards
- 1 package or perforated notebook of graphing paper
- 1 scientific calculator
- 1 flash drive (8GB)
St. Rose has a lot of "platforms" what are they all for?
St. Rose High School admittedly has a lot of technology and some of the platforms are fragmented. We have done our best to consolidate and create ways for platforms to talk to one another. However, there are times when you may need to enter information into or remember login credentials for multiple platforms. St. Rose High School uses the following platforms:
PLATFORM NAME | USE CASE |
---|---|
GOOGLE WORKSPACE FOR EDUCATION | We are powered by Google for our school email, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and more. Students have a school email account which runs on Gmail but with the enterprise security of Google Workspace for Education. Parents do not have a school email. |
GOOGLE CLASSROOM | Google Classroom is also part of Google Workspace for Education. Think of Google Classroom (GC) as your child's digital link to learning. Teachers use GC to share assignments & homework, collaborate, communicate, and much more with students and parents. Students use their school email to access GC. Parents DO NOT have a login and will only receive one weekly summary from Google Classroom. If you wish to login and see what your students see then they could share their password with you. However, at the high school level we recommend that you give your child room to be in charge of their learning while staying connected on Powerschool. Remember, your child's Guidance Counselor is also a valuable partner and resource through their St. Rose experience. |
GENESIS | Genesis is our Student Information System (SIS). Genesis is used for attendance, grades, forms, athletic sign ups, health information, and text alerts. Students and Parents will be issued their username and password by the middle of July. |
PAYSCHOOLS | Our lunch provider, Rivers Edge Cafe uses PaySchools, one of the largest providers of lunch POS systems in the country. NAVIANCE | Naviance is a web-based technology program that will be used by the guidance department to help manage the college admissions process. Family Connection is the website that students and families will use to access and share information with their counselors as they develop their post-secondary plans. Using Family Connection, students can research careers & colleges, take assessments & surveys, create goals & to-do’s and eventually, submit requests for transcripts & recommendations directly to their counselor. |

Parents do not have a login to Google Classroom. You could ask your child to share their login with you, however, now that they are in high school we recommend using Powerschool to monitor their progress. Google Classroom will send parents a weekly summary. Click here to learn more about the Parent/Guardian Summaries from Google.

Here's this month's Lunch Menu
How do I add money to my child's lunch account?
St. Rose High School is excited to partner with River's Edge Cafe to provide food services. River's Edge uses PaySchools Central, the leader in school payment providers, to manage our cashless cafeteria.
PaySchools Centrals will manage lunch accounts in one payment portal, and will accept payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a safe and secure environment. Refer to the tutorials and helpful step by step guides below when setting up your account.
For questions or concerns about the Food Service experience call Nicole Reale from River's Edge Cafe at 732) 531-4150 or via email riversedgecafe@srhsnj.com
Thank you for your cooperation.
Bon Appetite!

Students who lose their school ID, Access card, and/or lanyard MUST report it immediately. It is a safety concern to have a lost access card floating out in the world. Report is missing or lost so we can deactivate it.

When do new students get their lanyard, ID, and Access Card?
My senior would like to drive to school, what do we need to do?
What happens if school closes early in the case of an emergency?
We will notify parents using an emergency alert. Emergency alerts are sent via phone call, text message, email and in the parent Facebook group.
Students can go home on the bus, by a parent, or other arrangements you may make in this situation. If you want your child to go home with an older student who drives then you must choose that option in the Emergency Closing Back to School form.
Do you have a list of important dates for parents to know?
How do I contact my child's teacher?
You can search your child's teacher on the faculty directory here.
Then email them or call the school and we will transfer you to their voicemail.
Teachers cannot take calls while they are teaching.
